TITLE: Ohio University: American Sign Language Lecturer/Associate Lecturer/Senior Lecturer – 3 positions

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in Deaf Studies, ASL education, ASL studies, or bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology or closely related field by the start date. Teaching experience related to ASL. Significant intensive language study and immersion ASL (prefer 5+ years).
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in American Sign Language or related field. ASLTA or NIC Certification. Expertise in any of the following areas: Deaf Culture and Community, Deaf Education, ASL Linguistics, ASL Literature, Disability Studies and/or Second Language Acquisition.

DESCRIPTION: The Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of Health Sciences and Professions invites applicants for three positions to teach American Sign Language (ASL) on the Athens campus. The Division has recently begun offering a four-course sequence of ASL and is expanding the faculty to cover these courses. These are 9-month full time positions beginning August 14, 2017 at the rank of Lecturer/Associate Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (non-tenure track) depending upon qualifications. TITLE: Speech & Language Pathologist

QUALIFICATIONS: Currently the MCESC is seeking a school – based Speech & Language Pathologist for the 2017 -18 school year. The SLP will be providing services to school age students. The candidate must possess Master’s Degree, current license from the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology or eligible for Ohio License, current license from the Ohio Department of Education or eligible for Ohio License.

DESCRIPTION: Works with staff to identify students with suspected speech, language, and hearing impairments. Makes referrals to community agencies and specialist when appropriate. Completes Medicaid paperwork as needed. Helps multi-disciplinary teams formulate and implement (IEP) for students meeting eligibility requirements. Complies with the state model policies and procedures for the education of children with disabilities. Collaborates with staff to ensure that services are provided in the least restrictive educational environment. Obtains student information using a variety of sources. Follows proper procedures to secure permission for the release of reports and records. Administers diagnostic tests. Assesses articulation, voice, fluency, and language skills. Interprets results and recommends intervention strategies. Helps parents and students understand therapy goals and how they relate to the educational program. Prioritizes and constructs a therapy schedule. Provides indirect speech/language services to students in their classrooms through collaborations with teachers. Uses the information in the IEP to prepare and carry out therapy activities. Evaluates and documents therapy progress. Shares information with team members as needed to support educational and/or behavioral goals. Provides periodic student goal progress reports to parents. Makes a referral for a multi-factored assessment when a need is indicated. Performs evaluations and works with the intervention assistance team as directed. Ensures that all required information is submitted on time. Helps staff develop a balanced program for oral and non-verbal communications and speech improvement. Recommends classroom modifications, teaching techniques, instructional materials, behavioral modification strategies, and/or adaptive equipment that will enhance the educational process. TITLE: Speech Therapist Records Reviewer

QUALIFICATIONS: School Speech Therapist: 1 year, must have performed IEP evaluations for students. Licensed Ohio Speech Therapist and an independent Ohio ORP provider (The applicant can apply for ORP certification after being hired, but cannot start work until certification is received.)

DESCRIPTION: Ohio Public School Districts participating in the Medicaid School Program are seeking part time Speech Therapists to complete online records reviews and refer children for therapy services for speech therapy provided in a school setting. This is an extremely flexible part time position where the employee would work from home. These students have been already fully evaluated/assessed by the School Speech therapist. Each student has an individualized plan of care specific to the school setting (IEP). Hired professionals must hold a current license as a Speech Therapist licensed in the State of Ohio and be enrolled in Ohio Medicaid as an independent “ORP” provider, with an NPI number as well. The applicant must also have worked in a school setting and have an intimate familiarity with the IEP process and IEP software. Payment will be based per record review and related referral. Hourly rate is up to $80.
